SOL-UV MAVOX

Experience has shown that using UV radiation alone to treat water – especially pool and pond water – is inadequate. That’s why SOL-UV uses a combination system of UV radiation and ozone and has developed the necessary equipment and processes.

How does SOL-UV MAVOX work?


Our MAVOX technology combines UV radiation supported by the properties of ozone. This optimised O3 – UV combination can efficiently eliminate harmful organic substances and germs. It not only eliminates pathogenic microorganisms but also microorganisms (e.g. algae spores) that consequently can’t spontaneously reproduce or develop any more. Existing algae can no longer survive because of a lack of nutrients. The units can be used in DC (direct current) or effective AC (alternating current) systems. Our UV-ozone combination units are adapted and installed according to the area of use and requirements.

1. The MAVOX pool series


MAVOX-RS-pool ‘duplex’ (for commercial swimming pools)


The MAVOX-RS-pool ‘duplex’ units are primarily used to treat and disinfect water used in water jets and pools, to reduce precursors and break down DNP (chloramine and THM).

Composition of the unit

The MAVOX combination system uses either a separate pump or a branched off AC.

  • O3—UV    ozone generated with UV radiation: wave length =185 nm
    Oxidation and radical formation with UV radiation: =254 nm
  • UV—O3    UV disinfection at 254 nm with subsequent ozone oxidation

In combination with cleaning the filters and disinfecting the system bi-annually with LegioDes®, this method is a fantastic way to keep the water and equipment in a perfectly sound hygienic condition. Especially for pools where water hygiene is more challenging: e.g. whirlpools, pools for children, therapy or hot water pools.

For commercial use our units are designed, adapted and installed according to the user’s needs.

MAVOX-RS-pool series 1/’Salzburg’ system (for private swimming pools)*


We offer the following types of MAVOX-RS-pool series 1:
  • Type 1 (40W) up to Qh 6 m3 and pool volume: V= up to 25 m3
  • Type 2 (90W) up to Qh 12 m3 and pool volume: V= up to 50 m3
  • Type 3 (125W) up to Qh 16 m3 and pool volume: V= up to 70 m3
  • Type 4 (180W) up to Qh 20 m3 and pool volume: V= up to 90 m3

*This data is based on an average use of 12 hours, presuming an initial disinfection. If used longer, the pool volume can be increased.


2. The MAVOX pond series (for private and commercial ponds)


The new MAVOX pond technology has been especially developed for swimming ponds, fish ponds, biotopes, decorative ponds and fountains (DC or AC mode). In pond water, ozone is always used first, before UV radiation breaks it down again. This ensures that no ozone reaches the pond water.

MAVOX pond is used to reduce germs and to support the bio-filtration in private and public swimming ponds. The beneficial micro algae are not eliminated but partially reduced.

MAVOX-RS-pond series 1VTS*


We offer the following types of MAVOX-RS-pond series 1:
  • Type 1 (40W) up to Qh 5 m3 and pond volume: V= up to 60 m3
  • Type 2 (90W) up to Qh 12 m3 and pond volume: V= up to 80 m3
  • Type 3 (125W) up to Qh 16 m3 and pond volume: V= up to 120 m3
  • Type 4 (180W) up to Qh 20 m3 and pond volume: V= up to 180 m3

*This data is based on an average use of 24 hours and an air flow of 120-240 l/min. It has to be assessed individually, whether a pond system needs a pump to increase the pressure in order to use the O3—UV unit successfully.

For larger water volumes we offer increased performance units. In fish ponds (e.g. koi ponds) the quantity of fish has to be taken into consideration.

Combination of the MAVOX pond technology with pondoClean ‘forte’


Combining a MAVOX pond unit with pondoClean ‘forte’ leads to a selective O3—UV oxidation-disinfection. Problems with the quality of pond or biotope water often stem from a high level of phosphate, which encourages algae growth. With pondoClean ‘forte’ phosphate and other unwanted substances are reduced through a periodic flocculation and precipitation. Cloudy and suspended particles can therefore be bound and sedimented quickly. They can then be removed from the ground without problem. Even if the bound and sedimented particles remain at the bottom for a while, they do not mobilise again. Furthermore, the use of pondoClean ‘forte’ improves the ecological balance in ponds and biotopes. PondoClean ‘forte’ is no chemical ‘blow’ to the system and poses no danger to flora and fauna.
